Welcome to the Mad Batter Restaurant in historic Cape May
The Mad Batter Restaurant, located in the Carroll Villa Hotel on Cape May's historic Jackson Street, is the recipient of many critically acclaimed awards and is considered the granddaddy of Cape May's many fine restaurants. Come visit us and see the many changes we have made, including our new solar panels!
Start the morning with our award-winning breakfasts and come back for lunch and dinner! Dine on our front porch in-season, in our skylit dining room, or in our garden terrace. We are open year-round.
Browse through our art exhibits or join us for live music, including "Open Mic" night and Jazz at the Batter with friends of Cape May Jazz. Enjoy half-priced drinks at Happy Hour daily from 4 to 6 p.m. Our bistro menu is also available.

We've gone green
The Mad Batter and Carroll Villa Hotel have implemented energy-saving and environmentally friendly changes, including carpets made from corn, an energy-saving dishwasher, low-energy lights, environmentally friendly paints, energy-efficient air conditioners, and a strict glass and paper recycling policy.
We've added 38 solar panels to our roof, estimated to provide 10,293 KWH/year in electrical production. Approximately 7,987 lbs of CO2 will be offset annually which is equivalent to recycling 165,361 cans of soda, not burning 962 gallons of gasoline, and planting 1 acre of trees!
