9% ABV 55 IBU – Ludlam Island Brewer, Ocean View, NJ
Joe the brewer’s hopped up mess of a double IPA brewed with wheat and oats for that delectable mouthfeel. Pounded late in the boil plus a hefty dry hop of simcoe, mosaic, and citra lupulin powder provide layers upon layers of hop aroma and flavor. Hints of sticky dank greens give way to peach rings and fruit stripe gum, overripe tropical fruit juice, and transcendental bliss. Serving sizes: Pint
Undercurrent – Mild
4% ABV – Forest & Main Brewing Company Ambler, PA
Collaboration with Tonewood. Moreish Pale Mild, mashed in British Golden Promise malted barley with Golden Naked Oats, Crystal, and some flaked barley; hopped it with a solid charge of Bramling Cross; and fermented it with an expressive top cropping British yeast. This one is drinking a touch hoppier than might be traditional for a Mild, but when that hop character is coming from our sweetheart Bramling Cross, that’s just fine. It’s lending aromatic notes of raspberry leaf tea, picking ripe blackberries, and a cup of Irish Breakfast Tea. As the beer slowly opens up, the dry malty notes like wheat crackers, baked oatmeal, vanilla, and spring honey meld with that aromatic yeast character of Bartlett Pear and oaky autumn apple cider.
